Egypt jails former ministers for corruption.

Egyptian prosecutors have jailed a former ruling party official and three ministers from deposed strongman Hosni Mubarak's government.All four have been ordered held for 15 days while prosecutors conduct their investigation, the state-run EgyNews.net reported. Those arrested include ex-Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, whose agency was responsible for Egyptian police and paramilitary security forces.Complaints about police corruption and abuses were the top grudges of protestors who forced Mubarak from office last week. Al-Adly has been questioned for allegations of profiteering and money-laundering, but further charges are possible, EgyNews reported. Also arrested were Ahmed Izz, the secretary for organizational affairs of the National Democratic Party, Housing Minister Ahmed Maghrabi; and Tourism Minister Zuhair Garana, according to Egypt's official Middle East News Agency. All three are suspected of corruption and wasting public funds.

Egyptian Google exec is 'ready to die' for change in his country.

        The thirty year old executive Wael Ghonim told CNN reporters there is "no longer the time to negotiate" with the regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Ghonim has been detained for the past week and a half for the uprises of protests he has organized."There's a lot of blood now" that has been spilled, he said and now he's ready to die for change in his counrty.
       
Ghonim played a key role in organizing the protests that have convulsed Egypt for more than two weeks. He was the administrator of a Facebook page that is widely credited with calling the first protest on January 25.
Ghonim has been treated as a hero since his release. A crowd of thousands cheered him when he spoke recently at Tahrir Square, where hundreds of thousands of protesters have demanded change for the last 16 days.

     He conceded that President Hosni Mubarak has "sacrificed a lot" for Egypt but said he represents a system that needs to be replaced. Also though, that Mubarak should be treated with dignity.

Egypt's prime minister apologizes and vows probe into violence

         Today in Egypt, the new prime minister apologized repeatedly  for the wednesday's  out of hand behavior in Cairo, blaming infiltrators and a "complete disappearance" of police for the human toll. Minister Habib Adli, who oversees Egypt's police forces, was among several former officials of President Hosni Mubarak's government whose assets were frozen. The officials have been banned from traveling outside the country.
The travel ban will remain in effect "until national security is restored and the authorities and monitoring bodies have undergone their investigations," Nile TV said.
         Ahmed Shafiq, appointed prime minister last Saturday, pledged a thorough investigation into Wednesday's violence in Tahrir Square, the downtown Cairo plaza where the uprising has unfolded with force.The two sides that had unfolded, faced off all through the night and earlier Thursday, heavy gunfire reverberated in central Cairo. The military worked hard to separate the two sides but in the afternoon, in parts of the square, the soldiers were nowhere to be seen.

Taliban in Pakistan

          The news station VBS, out of Brooklyn, recently took trip to Pakistan to report on the recent spike in the region's violence and bloodshed. Locals believe that America's war on terror is falling flat on its face. The military conflict in the neighboring country Afghanistan, stated by locals, only ends up sending a constant flood of guns, refugees, militants and heroin into Pakistan.
     In Peshawar, the VBS reporters met with Rahimullah Yusufzai.Yusufzai was the last person to interview Osama bin Laden and one of Pakistan's most respected journalists.He is concerned that much of the resulting anti-Western sentiment in the country is because of anger directed at American foreign policy.: "There's a saying: 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' America is playing the role of an enemy, and al Qaeda is the reaction to it. People need to realize this. No one has the right to dictate over a free country. They force their political and social policies on us, which they have no right to." Shabir Ahmed Khan, the provincial secretary of Jamaat-i-Islami stated.

Hot stuff

The president of Chile told reporters Wednesday that conditions were "inhumane". in a prison in Santiago. There was a fire that had sizzled eighty-one prisoners. The San Miguel prison was vastly overcrowded as it was. The original capacity of the building had been one thousand, but it was stretched out to around a whopping nineteen-hundred. The President Sebastian Pinero repeated to reporters "The conditions that existed at the prison were inhumane." "This is a terrible tragedy," Health minister Jaime Manalich said,  he had called it the worst incident to strike the country's penal system. The fire started on the fourth floor after a riot among inmates.

Posty thang

Last wednesday the 24th, South Korea's spy chief spoke that the strike last month would not be the last. South Korean lawmaker Rhee Beum-Kwan quoted National Intelligence Service chief Won Sei-hoon as making the prediction, that as North Korea's economy suffers and their power dampens that they are dersperatly send attacks to strike fear into the minds of the South Koreans. The U.S. (Vital ally... duh) and South Korea have joint military exercises on the Yellow Sea and South Korea has safty  artillery firing drills  as a retalliation manuver. With that stated it is believed that they could easily hold there own over seas.

Couple Released from Pirates

A couple sailing from Seychelles to Tanzania was captured by pirates in October of 2009. They were captured in the first place because the pirates believed they were part of a multimillion dollar commercial sailing trip of some sorts. The couple said it was very hard to convince the pirates that they were both retired, and taking a private trip with their own money. A ransom of $750,000 was paid for their release by Somalian elders who wished to remain anonymous. The couple have asked not to be bothered or interview for a while because the husband's father died while they were captured. Other than that the couple is emotionally stable, and glad to be free.
